#40 (Floods, Echoes)

The rain poured and poured
out of heaven’s floodgates.
A rising tide, surging waves
Concrete was conquered
by the ancient sea, rushing
Gales smash ‘bove the waves.

A smal cry, echoes, a child.
Lost without her mother,
who is now under the deep.
One more burst, furious wind.
A sharp stone, jutting out.

A small cry, echoes, no more.
